Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC continued their unbeaten start to the season after a 3-0 thrashing over neighbours Wakiso Giants FC on Tuesday.

Star-forward Yunus Sentamu scored a stunning looping goal from distance to headline an absolutely blistering and enjoyable atmosphere under the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende floodlights.

Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Karim Watambala scored a brace past the hapless Purple Sharks to make it three goals for him this season.

On the evening, after early dominance, Vipers grabbed a 14th-minute lead through a Watambala stinging shot to the top right corner, following a layoff from Abdu Lumala.

Two minutes later, it should have been 2-0 for the Venoms, but Wakiso Giants' goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya dived to thwart a Yunus Sentamu header after a brilliant Lumala cross.

Wakiso nearly found the leveller in the 34th minute, but Vipers' custodian Jack Komakech stood large to save a Samson Andrew Kigozi shot.

After restart, the hosts probed with more precision and should have doubled their lead at the hour-mark through Watambala, but his stinging shot was met with a sublime Ssekagya save.

Six minutes later though, in exquisite fashion, from the center, Sentamu looped Ssekagya to make it 2-0 and send the crowds into a frenzy.

It could easily have been 3-0 in the 74th minute, but the crossbar denied Sentamu, with the goalkeeper beaten before Lawal struck into the side-netting.

Five minutes later, substitute and captain Milton Karisa's stinging shot was denied by another superb Ssekagya save.

Deep into added time, Watambala struck from the edge of the box off a Sentamu pass to make it 3-0 for the unforgiving Venoms.

Vipers will hope to keep their unbeaten run in their subsequent game against rivals KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on November 10.

Meanwhile, a day later, 11th-placed Wakiso Giants will welcome Express FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
