Vipers SC new assistant coach Raoul Lukusa Kayembe has been tipped to take over the head coach role at the Kitende based club.

While the Kitende administration has been tight-lipped over the status of head coach Alex Isabirye at the club, multiple reports say the Uganda Cup and StarTimes Uganda Premier League winner resigned last week.

Kayembe is reportedly set to take over as the head coach ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The Congolese tactician has since been in-charge of the team’s training sessions after the fallout between Isabirye and the Kitende bosses.

Alex Isabirye guided Vipers SC to their first-ever domestic double.

The 51-year-old was unveiled July 4 on a two-year contract having previously served at AC Capaco de Beni (2018-2019) and FC Etoile de Kivu (2019-2020).

He also been at AS Dauphin Noir in 2020, AS Bantou de Mbuji Mayi, (2021-2023) and among others.

However, reports also suggest that Vipers SC are interested in the services of former TP Mazembe head coach Frank Dumas.

Ironically, Dumas was sacked by the Congolese giants last season after Vipers SC eliminated TP Mazembe to qualify for the lucrative CAF ChampionsLeague group stages.
