The weekend that was for Harambee Stars players based in Zambia.

There were mixed fortunes for Harambee Stars players based in Zambia this weekend that left plenty to talk about.

Jesse Jackson Were was reinstated into the starting line up for the first time in a while and helped Kansanshi Dynamos overcome David ‘Calabar’ Owino’s Napsa Stars on Sunday, while Ian Otieno helped keep Zesco’s lead at the top of the table in check by keeping a clean sheet and helping them get all the three points against Nkwazi on Saturday.

Here is a recap of how Kenyans fared in Zambia:

Kansanshi Dynamos 1-0 Napsa

Jesse Jackson Were's Kansanshi got one over his Harambee Stars teammate David ‘Calabar’ Owino’s Napsa Stars to help keep their survival hopes alive.

Were was reinstated to the starting line up and even if he did not score, he helped contribute effectively to his team’s performance which was vital in getting all three points.

Napsa gave away a penalty to Kansanshi Dynamos after Gift Zulu handled the ball in the 18 yard box which was well converted by Dave Daka.

Owino would have wished to be on the pitch in order to prevent his side from getting defeated, considering he has been an integral part of Napsa’s plans.

Zesco 2-0 Nkwazi

Ian Otieno kept a clean sheet to help league leaders Zesco United have returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Nkwazi in the MTN Super League on Saturday.

Goals in either half from Abraham Siankombo and Lazarous Kambole completed what was a routine victory in the end as ZESCO maintained their one point advantage at the top of the table.

Zanaco 2-1 Trident

Both Dennis Ng’ang’a and John Ochieng, who were key players for Gor Mahia last season, helped Zanaco get a 2-1 win over Trident on Sunday.

Ochieng’ will be hoping he can get back fit again after he limped off in the 82nd minute with an injury.

Zanaco took the lead in the 20th minute after Charles Zulu was brought down in the box before he stepped up to take it and put them into the lead.

Chawanangwa Kaonga  doubles Zanaco’s lead in the 61st minute to make it 2-0, and even if Trident pulled one back through Graven Chitalu, Zanaco held on to victory to cap off a good weekend for them.
