FKFPL AFC Leopards maul Murang'a Seal to extend winning run to five

AFC Leopards had enough about themselves to comfortably dispatch 10- man Murang’a Seal in an FKFPL encounter that took place at the Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Leopards started lively and should have taken the lead in the third minute when a lovely cross from Jaffari Owiti was headed off target by Hassan Beja.

Boniface Munyendo then tried to have a crack from distance but the ball sailed off target a minute later.

In the 26th minute, Arthur Gitego attempted a header from a Vincent Mahiga freekick against the upright. Leopards continued to pile on the pressure and won another set piece. This time, Victor Omune would make no mistake as he headed the ball into the back of the net.

Murang’a Seal launched an attack in the 44th minute but Humphrey Katasi had enough about himself to deny them a good chance to restore parity.

Murang’a Seal started the better of the two teams and had a good chance to restore parity in the 50th minute when Robert Mudenyu headed John Kiplagat’s free kick over the top of the bar.

Hassan Beja was then next to test the Murang'a Seal keeper’s resolve when he cut inside with the ball from the left flank, but his resultant shot was easy for keeper Wilson Mwangi to deal with.

In the 73rd minute, Leopards missed another big chance to make it 2-0 when substitutes Jaffari Owiti and Maxwell Otieno found themselves one on one, but Owiti dwelled on to the ball to long and released a pass intended for Otieno that was intercepted by Mudenyu back towards Aziz Okaka who blazed the ball over the bar.

Things went from bad to worse for Murang’a Seal when Marvin Brian was dismissed for a foul on Mahiga in the 82nd minute.

he win for AFC Leopards now means they have gone unbeaten in their last seven games, with six of those wins. They now sit eigth on 30 points.

Murang'a sit 12th in the league on 24 points with coach Abdallah Juma yet to win any game.
