Ayunga did not have enough time to influence the outcome of the match as St.Mirren were dumped out of the Scottish FA Cup by Celtic.

Kenyan striker Jonah Ayunga came off the bench but could not help St. Mirren avoid defeat to Celtic in a Scottish FA Cup Fifth Round tie.

Ayunga, who had been an unused substitute in their last two games, was subbed on in the 77th minute but did not have enough time to influence the outcome of the game.

Prior to the match, St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson emphasized the importance of a quick start, recalling their earlier league meeting where they were caught off guard in January.

Despite St Mirren's early dominance, Kyogo's quick strike, threading the ball through Charles Dunne's legs and past goalkeeper Zach Hemming, gave Celtic the lead.

While Kyogo is Celtic's primary goal threat, Gogic, often less associated with goal-scoring, came closest to leveling the score for St Mirren.

His powerful shot hit the crossbar, followed by an audacious overhead kick that was narrowly saved by Joe Hart.

Despite St Mirren's energetic first-half display, they seemed fatigued in the second half. Maeda capitalized on this with a strong strike, finding the net after Matt O'Riley's shot left the woodwork shaking.

St Mirren needed a response to prolong their Scottish Cup journey, and Greg Kiltie had a golden opportunity to provide it. However, he failed to connect with a teasing ball, and the chance went begging for the home side.

The defeat now means St.Mirren have to focus on finishing as high as they can in the league.

Ayunga has scored two goals since his return from injury in December.
