Newly-appointed Uganda National Women’s team head coach Charles Ayiekoh has started his duty on a high note by dropping a number of senior players from the team.

Ayiekoh was appointed on interim basis on a month-long contract and but his presence is being felt already.

The coach will specifically handle the team’s double-header against Cameroon in the round two of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.

Ayiekoh named a squad of 35 players on Friday with a number of notable faces missing, including the team’s captain and previous first-choice goalkeeper, Ruth Aturo.

The other key players missing include Hasifa Nassuna, who captained the team against Algeria and her striking partner and long-serving member Sandra Nabweeteme.
