Otto Addo returns as Ghana's head coach and has been tasked with leading the team to success after his impressive interim tenure.

Otto Addo, the seasoned coach who left his post as Ghana's interim coach 15 months ago, is set to make a triumphant return to lead the national football team.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the appointment, offering Addo a substantial 34-month contract with the option for extension.

GFA President Kurt Okraku expressed his admiration for Addo's exceptional performance during the interview process, emphasizing his high rating by the search committee.

"There were some brilliant individuals among the coaches who applied for the job, so the committee took the pain to interview a chunk of them to pick their thoughts on their intentions to transform the team within a short period of time due to our peculiar situation," said Okraku.

He further highlighted the committee's overwhelming satisfaction with Addo's performance, which led to his recommendation to the Executive Council for approval.

Addo's recent role as a talent coach at Borussia Dortmund has garnered significant praise, with Dortmund's Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl acknowledging Addo's dedication to his national team duties.

"I know that for Otto, despite his long-standing connection to BVB, the national team was always something very special," Kehl affirmed.

Ghana has been without a coach since parting ways with Chris Hughton following their disappointing exit from the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Hughton's tenure saw Ghana fail to secure a single victory in the group stage matches, leading to his dismissal.

Addo's previous stint as interim coach saw Ghana qualify for the Qatar World Cup after a hard-fought draw against Nigeria.

Despite Ghana's elimination from the World Cup, Addo's tenure was marked by determination and commitment to the team's success.

With upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda, Addo is poised to lead Ghana with renewed vigor and strategic acumen.
