The Tanzanian giants reportedly risk a FIFA transfer ban after failing to complete the compensation payment of former head coach Luc Eymael.

Young Africans have asserted their dominance in the Tanzanian top flight over the last two seasons, but all could halt following the latest development.

The Tanzanian giants reportedly risk a FIFA transfer ban after failing to complete the compensation payment of former head coach Luc Eymael.

Eymael was dismissed in 2020 after he described Tanzanian football fans as monkeys and dogs, adding that they were ignorant about football.

The Belgian tactician then took the case to FIFA. In October 2022, the world football governing body ordered the back-to-back Tanzanian league champions to pay their former coach $148,000 for unlawful dismissal.

FIFA threatened the side with a transfer ban for three consecutive transfer windows if they did not pay the fine within 45 days of the determination date.

Eymael and Young Africans agree.

The two parties then agreed that the Jangweni-based giants pay the money over a period of five months.

However, only the first two instalments were paid in October and November.

The remainder, meant to be paid in December, January, and February, remains unpaid.

The East African publication had reported in March that FIFA had written to Young Africans, giving them until March 23 2023, to respond.

According to the March 8, 2023 letter, ‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi’ still owed the Belgian $99,000 as outstanding transactional indemnity and $5000 as a contractual penalty.

What happened?

On July 27 2020, Young Africans sacked the former AFC Leopards tactician alleging that he had made racist remarks against Tanzanian fans that followed a 1-1 draw with Mtibwa Sugar FC.

The Tanzanian Football Association (TFF) also banned him for two years and fined him $3,400.

In solidarity with TFF, The South African Football Association (SAFA) also announced that it had banned the former Polokwane City coach from coaching in South Africa.

Khalid Aucho’s side will have to pay the remaining balance or risk being unable to sign players ahead of the upcoming Tanzanian domestic season transfer window and the following two consecutive windows.

There hasn't been any offcial communication from either party about the issue.
