Ngonde, a recent addition to Villa Park, has displayed stellar performances for his team, which have earned him a spot on the Uganda Cranes squad for upcoming friendly matches in Mali and Zambia.

SC Villa midfielder Elvis Ngonde of is on the verge of realizing his dream following his inaugural call-up to the senior national football team.

Ngonde, a recent addition to Villa Park, has displayed stellar performances for his team, which have earned him a spot on the Uganda Cranes squad for upcoming friendly matches in Mali and Zambia.

Ngonde expresses palpable excitement and anticipation as he prepares to step into this new chapter.

“Having the opportunity to represent my nation has always been a lifelong dream," Ngonde shaered with the club Media

"Aspiring to don the Cranes jersey and make my family proud has been a driving force, so this is an honor and a privilege I do not take lightly.”

With the Cranes scheduled to compete against Mali this Friday, followed by a match against Zambia the following Tuesday, Ngonde acknowledges the hurdles ahead while also underscoring his intent to deliver commendable performances in both games.

“I'm keenly aware of the challenges that lie ahead; Mali and Zambia represent robust opponents. However, that's the thrilling aspect of international football."

"We are preparing assiduously as a team and targeting to bring forth strong performances,” Ngonde added.

Joining Ngonde in the Cranes squad are club teammates, captain Kenneth Ssemakula and defender Mugweri Gavin Kizito. Khalid Aucho of Yanga is slated to captain the side in the absence of Emmanuel Okwi.

Following the failure to qualify for the 2023 AFCON tournament, FUFA parted ways with head coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic.

Morely Byekwaso, assistant coach of SC Villa, was recently appointed on an interim basis and will be assisted by URA FC’s Fred Muhumuza.

The pair will helm the Cranes in the two friendly matches prior to FUFA announcing a permanent coach for the Cranes—anticipated to occur before October concludes, as the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers are slated to commence in November.
