The Nigerian forward came on for Sociedad icon Mikel Oyarzabal in the 79th minute during the mid-day LaLiga kick-off as his side made light work of their opponents in an easy win.

Sadiq was unable to get on the scoresheet after coming off the bench, but this did not matter as all the goals in the encounter had already been scored by the time he came on, with the match long decided before his appearance.

The 26-year-old forward had opportunities to open his account in the new LaLiga season, but spurned both of his late chances with his barren run in front of goal now set to go beyond a calendar year, with his last goal came on the third of September 2022 when Real Sociedad played out a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid.

The seven-time Nigeria international is yet to make his first start in the new LaLiga season after suffering a lengthy injury absence that kept him out of contention for most of the previous campaign but will be keen to change that in the coming weeks.

Real Sociedad thrash Granada

Real Sociedad have struggled in LaLiga this season, but were finally at the races against Granada, earning their first win of the campaign in a convincing 5-3 victory at the Reale Arena.

After three consecutive draws to open the new season, La Reale were ruthless against their visitors, scoring three times in the first hour as they opened an unassailable gap, going 5-1 up midway through the second half.

Although they conceded two late goals to make the score respectable for Granada, there was no fear of a comeback by the visitors as Sociedad cruised to an easy win.

Two goals from Takefuso Kubo, as well as goals from Martin Zubimendi and Ander Barrenetxea and an own goal from Adria Sanchis were enough for Real Sociedad to claim all three points at home.
