Vipers have never lost a single league match against the Prison Warders, as they've won seven and managed stalemates on three occasions.

Six-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will hit the summit should they overcome the Maroons FC test at the Luzira Prisons Grounds on Wednesday.

The Kitende side will move to 26 points, level with current leaders BUL FC but with an upper goal difference.

The Venoms are in decent form, having won each of their past three games against URA FC (2-0), UPDF FC (1-0), and 2-1 over Kitara FC during their last time out.

With BUL drawing their past two games, Vipers will hope to take advantage, something that head coach Leonard Martins Neiva doesn't feel comes with pressure.

“I don’t feel that kind of pressure from other teams. We want to win our games, and BUL FC doesn’t need extra pressure; they play us next Saturday, so that’s enough job to do," he told the club media.

“We have a job to do against Maroons FC, and we’ll be 100% focused on that; that’s what we are and what we will be."

“No one became champion by being at the top of the table on match day 11. But we need the points; we want to go for them, and that’s what we prepare for in a short time," Neiva said.

It will be the eleventh league meeting between Vipers and Maroons FC, dating back to the 2015/16 campaign.

Last season at tomorrow's venue, the two played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, with Milton Karisa scoring a brace for Vipers, while Fred Amaku and a late Fredrick Kigozi goal salvaged a point for the Maroons.
