Alex Iwobi reveals Ahmed Musa's influence in instilling the hunger for success in the current Nigeria team, aiming to replicate the achievements of the Super Eagles' 2013 AFCON heroes.

Nigerian playmaker Alex Iwobi has revealed how captain Ahmed Musa is fostering the same focused environment that fueled the Super Eagles’ 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Iwobi noted that Musa wants the current team in Cote d’Ivoire to emulate the 2013 heroes ahead of the quarterfinal clash on Friday.

The 27-year-old and his Super Eagles teammates will take to the pitch later on Friday to face Angola in an all–important AFCON 2023 encounter in the last eight.

Ahead of the clash, the Fulham midfielder said that Super Eagles skipper Musa has been speaking to the boys about the excellent journey to the title in South Africa 10 years ago.

According to him, the Turkey-based forward, who was a part of the team in South Africa, is helping to instill in his current colleagues the focused hunger and desire that propelled the late Stephen Keshi-led side to the title.

The former Arsenal star emphasised how driven that 2013 group was and feels Musa is creating those same conditions again.

“Ahmed Musa told us how focused they were in 2013],” Iwobi said according to a post on Facebook.

“He's creating the same environment and everyone is hungry. He wants us to push on and achieve the same [feat],” he added.

Iwobi says there is a real sense of unity and determination among the present Nigeria players as they target continental glory under Jose Peseiro's leadership.

Peseiro and his teammate are looking to end Nigeria’s 10-year wait for another AFCON title.
